Sweet 16

We are just days away from the calendar turning to another year. My hope for you is that you have a vision written out for the coming year. I want to take a few minutes to talk about something else – similar, yet a bit different.

I believe that marketers will play on the number 16 for this year. You may want to do the same. Rally your team around how you might  make social media posts, maybe even run a marketing campaign around “Sweet 16” and tooth decay. It’s an idea.

What I also want to encourage you to do, is choose a word or two, to focus on for the coming year. I began doing this, and I love how it played into decisions I made, throughout the year.

For 2015, my word(s) was – FINISH WHAT YOU START. I know, it’s more than a word. Let me share with you how it played out on the first day as in New Year’s Day 2015.

Typically, I hike on New Year’s Day, 2015 was no exception. I had chosen to hike up a rock/hill/mountain that I drive past every time I drive north to Denver. I found a trail and began. I’m a hiker, not a climber. There’s a big difference. I hiked to a point, and knew I was going to have to do some actual climbing. The talk in my head won, and I started back down for my own safety.

Then, I remembered my word(s) for the year – FINISH WHAT YOU START. So I turned around, went back to the point that had stopped me, and continued. As a result, I got to the top, had an amazing view, and the sense of accomplish filled me up.2015-01-01 12.04.07

There were numerous times throughout 2015, that my intention for the year, were brought to mind, and had an impact on my decision making process.

You don’t have to make a big deal about your word(s) for the year, or you can have those around you, be included, so that they may assist you in your intention. There’s no doubt that we here at Dentistry It’s Personal can support you and your focused intention.

For 2016, I’m choosing to focus on IMPACT and TRUST. How sweet it’ll be to watch this play out. I’d love for you to share with me what you will be focusing on.
