Pay Attention

What opportunities might we see, if we pay attention? We all can get caught up into the way we’ve been doing things. Or, sometimes, something happens, and we think we have no options.

What if . . . we pause, take a breathe, lean in, look closer, and believe that there just might be another way. What might we find?

Let’s pay closer attention to what is right in front of us.

Recently a client made a personnel change with a hygienist that had been with him for a few years. When she first began, she even had patients follow her from her previous place of employment.

After she left, patients began saying that they really like the new hygienist. Some even boldly commented that they had become dissatisfied with the previous one. (Of course nothing was said while she worked there.)

Upon further review of the charts/records, it was found that a number of patients that were seen by her, weren’t scheduling for their six month recall.

It took having a number of patients state their dissatisfaction and looking closer at recalls, to realize that the previous hygienist wasn’t a valuable team member.

Yet, the signs had been there for a while.

What aren’t you seeing?

How might things be improved?
