So, your computer crashes but the repair place promises to have it repaired within 48 hour when you call to get a status on it, they haven’t even begun! It’s been 48 hours! How is your patience? You had a goal to get information out, and now, you’re late. You let a support company go because they often cancel meetings, indicating they have to meet with a client (what am I, chopped liver?), they have a hair appointment, or a conflict. They continue to miss target dates, and attempt to make me appear small. So, not only are your goals not being met, your self worth is taking a hit.

That is how my New Year’s began, along with driving my car over the edge of a mountain road. Guess what? It didn’t phase me. Seriously, I knew the goals I set for 2013, and circumstances were not going to keep me from obtaining them. I knew I could overcome missing a goal. I was not to be deterred. I was a woman on a mission.

How could I possibly not get down? Because of habits that I had begun over 20 years ago.

Here we are, we are just about to begin the end of the first quarter of the year. How are you doing with your goals that you set for this year? What has/is happening that is keeping you from meeting your goals? Do you still feel/know/believe that you are going in the right direction? Are you welcoming moving forward? What plans have you made, and set in motion to get you to where you want to be, by the end of 2013?

Guess what? I have a mentor. Yes, really I do. In order for me to take my business and personal life to the next level, I work with someone, and follow the path that we have set together, to get to where I want to be.

Not only do I believe that there are times in your life that you need a little help, I live what I teach and train others in. I, too, have a mentor. Because I live daily in what I help others with, it doesn’t take long to turn myself around, most times, it’s a little tweak.

Here are ways to check the barometer and see where you are with overcoming and meeting your goals. This is what I asked myself, and what I do.

  • Strength: I begin my day with a daily devotional. I also read and watch motivating material, everyday. I don’t look to my own personal strength, I rely on something (some One) way bigger and stronger than me.
  • Dignity: I Look at what I encounter, and I’m determined to view it as a Blessing. I can choose to get down, and have found that it just doesn’t serve me well. So I look for the blessing in the challenge.
  • Grace: I forgive myself for being less than perfect. In the above situation, I should have ended the working situation at least a month prior to when I did. Because I had become friends with the person running the company, I let that cloud my judgement, (common female entrepreneur action), I let them slide on situations that were not productive. Instead of being hard on myself, I forgave them.

So, do you have daily habits that help you deal with life’s challenges? If not, you can change that.

Have you made some measurable goals for 2013. They don’t all have to be major goals. I’m going to go to 5 Rockies games, I have that written out. Now, you don’t have to like the Colorado Rockies Baseball team. The point is, write out, how you want your year to go. When I was a kid, I called them resolutions. They are pretty much the same thing, only the adult version has them measurable, and they are specific. I also do something to them that I refer to as codifying them. I can help you with that.

So, I have more than attending Rockies games on my 2013 Goal Sheet. I’ve even already missed one goal. I was to have my new Success Video Series released by the 7th of January. I’ve missed that target date. Guess what, I re-set. The above events prevented me from getting things out, when I set the original target date. So, what do you do? You regroup.

I took a week from February 1-8th and reflected on where I was going, and how I was going to get there. I went away. Just me. As a result, I’ve had amazing opportunities come my way, and total clarity about how I’m going to get where I’m going. Even if you can’t do that, you can take a step back. Reflect, and BREATHE!!!

If you’ve been following me for awhile, the above points, are the same points I’ve made at the end of most of my blog posts. I’d love to hear if this is helpful. How are you doing with the goals you set for 2013? Tell me the one you are most excited about, please. I’d also like to hear about maybe those that you’ve missed, and what you are doing about it.
